Harris County is the third-largest county in the United States, with more than 4.7 million residents. Precinct One, which largely overlaps with the City of Houston, is a diverse, urban precinct that includes more than one million residents.
Precinct One’s mission is that we are committed to become a national model for delivering responsive public service utilizing inclusive, innovative, and collaborative approaches to improve the quality of life, advance equality of opportunity, and promote the fair treatment of all people in Harris County.
The Policy team seeks to advance the mission of the precinct through thorough research, analysis, development, and implementation of public policy relevant to our constituents. Research and advocacy are grounded in principles of racial, social, and economic equity, primarily focused in fields of access for affordable and quality health care, criminal justice reform, economic equity and opportunity, voting rights, affordable housing, and environmental and climate justice.
The successful candidate will conduct research and analysis, draft policy briefs and recommendations, monitor and track developments, organize relevant stakeholders and propose and implement strategic plans in relevant areas of public policy to aid in advancing reforms. Performing skilled and highly detailed research on various issues and specific interests while working within the organization and across specific interest groups is a vital part of this role. You will attend meetings, hearings, and functions as a Precinct One liaison.Job Type: Regular Full-time
